Doxing’s First Casualty

In 1632, the Italian astronomer and physicist Galileo published Dialogue in which he detailed his hypothesis that the earth revolves around the sun aka heliocentricity as opposed to the concept the sun revolves around the earth aka geocentricity. The Inquisition accused him of teaching contrary to the Hebrew Bible. At the time of Galileo’s conflict with the political and religious establishment also known as the Inquisition — the majority of educated people — as well as the uneducated subscribed to the view that the Earth is the center of the Universe and the orbit of all heavenly bodies. The Inquisitional Commission declared heliocentrism to be “foolish and absurd in philosophy and formally heretical since it explicitly contradicts” the Hebrew Jewish Bible. They cited Joshua 10:12–13 “O Sun stand still… so the Sun stood still” so that Joshua could complete his Genocide of his conquered populace before dark.

The sentence of the Inquisition was that Galileo was found to be vehemently suspect of heresy for holding the opinion that the sun was motionless at the center of the universe, that the earth was not the center and moves, and that his theory was contrary to the Jewish scriptures. He was required to “abjure, curse and detest” those opinions which went against the Hebrew Book of Joshua.

Moreover, he was ordered to henceforth “abandon completely, not to hold, teach or defend in any way whatever, either orally or in writing” the opinion that the sun stands at the center of the solar system and the earth moves around it.

Galileo was first imprisoned then confined to house arrest for the rest of his life for going against the Jewish scriptures even though the New Testament explicitly states in Ephesians 2:15 “Christ abolished the Jewish Law.” The Inquisition banned his Dialogue in which he defended his theory of heliocentricity and also banned the publication of any of his other works; as well as banning the publication of any work he might write in the future. And since Galileo earned his living by writing, lecturing and publishing, this decree — in effect — both prevented and prohibited him from earning a livelihood. For the heresy of going against the Jewish scriptures, Galileo was not employable. Galileo became the first victim of doxing: a common practice used today to intimidate and threaten students and their future employment and livelihoods if they dare speak out against Genocide. It was not until Oct. 31, 1992–360 years later — that Pope John Paul II acknowledged that the Inquisition had erred in condemning Galileo for asserting that the Earth revolves around the sun. Is it going to take 360 years for the American people to recognize the harrowing Genocide of the Palestinian people which we have been sponsoring now for 75 years.

Galileo Institute For Truth

“The Gift of Truth excels all other Gifts” — Siddhartha Gautama (The Buddha)

We will not hold our tongues or thoughts. We hold these truths to be self evident — that all people are equal and endowed with the same rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
