Prior to World War II, German Americans had exemplary reputations as American citizens and they still do today. During that war, Germans in Germany murdered over 20 million innocent civilians — mostly Jews, Gypsies and Slavic peoples. That’s why so many Americans politicians and journalists at that time found it so hard to accept the Holocaust. Because they experienced cognitive dissonance. They falsely equated German Americans with Germans in Germany.

Prior to World War II, Japanese Americans had exemplary reputations as American citizens and they still do today. During that war, Japanese in Japan slaughtered over 20 million innocent civilians — mostly Chinese. That’s why so many American politicians and journalists at that time found it so hard to accept that genocide. Because they experienced cognitive dissonance. They falsely equated Japanese Americans with Japanese in Japan.

Jewish Americans have exemplary reputations as American citizens. IsraeliJews have been conducting a policy of apartheid and genocide against Palestinians for decades. This is why so many American politicians and journalists find this so hard to accept. It is another textbook case of cognitive dissonance. The idea that the Jewish state could commit war crimes and genocide becomes from the beginning an unthinkable idea. Impunity for Israel is baked into the system. Jewish Americans are not IsraeliJews.
